JD.com's AI IDE with team-scoped agents, skills, rules and MCP servers, and an auto-generated wiki over connected repositories

Key differences

JD.com's AI IDE with team-scoped agents, skills, rules and MCP servers, and an auto-generated wiki over connected repositories

  • Runs local and cloud. Team edition is CNY 0 per user a month for a limited period with 10,000 credits a seat; Enterprise is CNY 79 per user a month with 80,000 credits a seat; a custom Enterprise edition adds on-premises models, SSO and dedicated support
  • Runs multiple agents. Listed for 18 of 23 tools in this category.
  • Keep in mind: Agents are configured with built-in tools and MCP servers, but the published docs do not name a shell or terminal tool.

“A cloud console shows your running remotes, apps and middleware, in case the one thing missing from your editor was an on-call dashboard.”

What it is

JoyCode is JD.com's standalone AI IDE, built around a team asset model: a team creates its own rules, agents, skills, MCP servers and slash commands, and rules resolve in the order team, then project, then user. Creating an agent means naming it, writing its prompt and use case, choosing its built-in tools and attaching MCP servers, configured through a full mcpServers JSON block with documented npx and uvx setup per operating system. Connecting a code repository adds JoyCode as a Guest account and generates a RepoWiki over it, taking thirty to ninety minutes depending on repository size, and the context engine is pitched at deep parsing and understanding of the repository. Spec-driven development, 规约编程, is offered as end-to-end coverage from requirement to delivery, and a cloud console shows running remotes, apps and middleware. Several Chinese models are bundled with unlimited tokens for a limited period, and custom models can be added on the client.

Los Agentes on JoyCode

Who are they?
The ruling
El JuezThe judge

El Crítico and La Jefa found the same two obstacles and ranked them in opposite order. El Profesor is the only one who liked the part they both walked past.

Trial only
Reasoning and trade-offs · AI analysis

El Crítico's objection is what the tool asks for before it works. La Jefa's is what it costs once it does, and she reaches a number she can defend, which he never considers. El Profesor scores the precedence design highest on the panel and is arguing about a mechanism neither of the other two disputes.

El Crítico wins the ordering: an access grant and an hour of indexing come before any budget conversation, so his gate is the first gate. La Jefa is not overruled, she is next in the queue. Trial only, and the exit criterion is one repository you would not mind a stranger reading.

Pick JoyCode if your team wants shared agents and rules rather than sixty personal setups; pick Zoo Code if you would rather each engineer configured their own and moved on.

6.3
Reasoning and trade-offs · AI analysis

The deciding trait is that the team owns the configuration. Agents, skills, slash commands and rules belong to the group rather than to whoever set them up, so the conventions your staff engineers care about are enforced by default instead of pasted into a document nobody reads. Anyone who has watched a house style dissolve across a team will see the appeal immediately.

The cost is that this only helps if the whole team is inside it. Pick it when you can move everyone. Pick a personal tool when you cannot.

Connecting a repository adds the vendor as a Guest account on it and then spends thirty to ninety minutes generating a wiki before the tool is useful.

5.5
Reasoning and trade-offs · AI analysis

Two things happen at setup that nobody sees in a demo. The first is an access grant: the product joins your repository as an account, which is a permission conversation with whoever owns that organisation and a fact your security review will want in writing. The second is the wait, up to an hour and a half of indexing before the first useful answer.

What it does right is state the duration. A published range is a range a team can plan around, and most vendors leave the indexing cost entirely undescribed.

Rules resolve in a stated order, team then project then user, which makes precedence a specification rather than an emergent property of whichever file loaded last.

6.5
Reasoning and trade-offs · AI analysis
  1. Conflicting instructions are the unglamorous failure of every configurable agent, and almost no vendor publishes the resolution order. Declaring it turns a debugging session into a lookup, because a user who sees unexpected behaviour can reason about which layer produced it.

  2. Placing the organisation above the individual is the defensible default for a shared tool, though it also means a developer cannot locally override a rule that is wrong. 3. The context engine is described as deep parsing and understanding, which is a claim with no method attached.

The team edition is free for a limited period with bundled models on unlimited tokens, also for a limited period. Both clocks are the strategy, and both of them stop.

6.3
Reasoning and trade-offs · AI analysis

Subsidised inference with an expiry date is a land grab, and a retail parent with this balance sheet can fund one for as long as it chooses to. The question a buyer should ask is not whether the company survives, because it will, but what the meter reads on the day the promotional window closes and the workflow is already embedded.

Moat: switching cost, built deliberately through team assets that do not travel. Likely acquirer: none. Position: use the free window, and do not let anything you cannot rebuild in a week end up inside it.

Enterprise is CNY 79 per user a month, so sixty seats is a line I can forecast, and single sign-on sits in the custom edition above it rather than in the one I would buy.

6.0
Reasoning and trade-offs · AI analysis

The credit allowance is what makes this budgetable: a fixed rate per seat with a stated allocation means finance sees a number and my architects see a ceiling. What sits above the line is the problem, because directory integration and on-premises models are only in the bespoke tier, which means a negotiation rather than a purchase order.

There is no Linux client, which removes part of my estate outright, and nothing runs unattended. Not yet: single sign-on and a retention policy have to be in the standard contract first.

Closed source, but the server configuration is a real mcpServers JSON block with documented npx and uvx invocations per operating system, and custom models attach on the client.

5.5
Reasoning and trade-offs · AI analysis

Publishing the actual JSON, with both launchers and the per-platform differences spelled out, is the difference between a configuration surface and a screenshot. It means my own servers run here the way they run everywhere else, and adding one does not require asking anybody. Custom models can be pointed at from the client, so the bundled list is not the whole world.

What I cannot do is see any of it, run weights on my own machine, or fork the thing when a decision goes badly. Nice config file, closed box.
